Regulation (EU) No 995/2010

Regulation No 995/2010 of the European Parliament and of the Council issued on October, 20, 2010 (known as Timber Regulation) lays down the obligations of timber market operators:

- commitment for EU traders placing timber products on the EU market for the first time to put into practice “due diligence”

- prohibition of placing on the EU market for the first time illegally harvested timber and timber products

Supplied to the EU market, the timber and timber products may be sold or transformed before they reach the final destination. Timber products operators are obliged to keep records of the customers and suppliers to promote the traceability. The Regulation entered into force on 3 March 2013 and covers a wide range of timber products including solid wood products, flooring, plywood, pulp and paper listed in its Annex using EU Customs code nomenclature. Printed papers and recycled products are not included. The Regulation No 995/2010 applies to imported and domestically produced timber and timber products, the product range can be revised.

It is obligatory in a contract, invoice and dispatch note, for each delivery of plywood and hardboard, to be filled in besides the assortment (for example, Birch Plywood), volume (for example 30 m3), supplier name, country of origin also the botanical specie
